  1. 1./2./3./4. Broome - a city on the northern part of the West Coast. Cable Beach (1.) is one of the top 5 beaches in the world, which is for some good reasons. The water shines in a bright turquois, the sand is white and the beach is not only really long but also wide (which maybe has to do with Broome's extreme tide differences that can be up to 10m) and there's a good surf. Micha and I used these conditions and hired Boogy Boards to catch some waves. It's a lot of fun and not as easy as it looks like (though not as hard as real surfing);-)
We also visited Broome's Pearl Farm (3.) to learn how pearls are made and what the difference between real pearls and mother pearls are. In fact Broome is famous for its pearls and they are considered to be amongst the best in the world.
As Broome is obviously situated on the West Coast, you get to see brilliant sunsets, if you're on time for it, which we weren't exactly in this picture (4.):-)

  2. 5. A salt mine in Port Hedland - I've no idea why it is called mine, since it is not acutally one, but the signs definitely said mine. Port Hedland is the industrial capital of WA - raw minerals are transported towards the coast from inside the country via railways that were build for this purpose (there are several mines in inland WA). Even though Port Hedland is not one of the most picturesque cities in the world, it is worth visiting for a couple of hours, since you experience other dimensions of industry than you're used to. Trains are up to 7km long, there are giant ships and there are those huge salt mines or similar industries.
