  1. From bottom to top:
1./2./3.: Coral Bay, a little coastal resort on the West Coast that only has a tiny supermarket, some small shops (mainly souvenirs), a nice bakery, an hotel, a hostel and´two campgrounds. However, there's a fantastic beach and you've got direct access to the Ningaloo Reef, which is much more varified than the parts of the Great Barriere Reef we had seen. The sand is really white and the water crystal clear - I'd never seen the ocean like that before. Watching from the beach, you could distinguish three different colours: the grey/blue of the sand/water connection, the bright blue or rather turquoise of the shallow parts and the dark blue shades of the reef. Furthermore, outside the touristy area, there's only nature; giant sand dunes, 4WD tracks on them (important to mention here, since we used them for Quad biking, joining a sunset tour), different plants and the best fishing spots in the world!
4./5. South of Coral Bay, we stopped at the Blow Holes. As you can see, they are of a totally different nature; the ocean was extremely rough out there and the way the water splashed towards the cliffs was pretty scary. I definitely wouldn't want to be out there in the water!

  2. Amazing account of your journey with Michael... what a gorgeous place we live in..so apt that these posts have been put up right now Susi...it is Australia Day here today! Although I don't agree that today ought to be Australia Day..as it is the day of the white invasion to Australia and all... these pictures you share ARE what Australia is all about and what we should embrace every day, not just one day a year.
